Chiptuning
What does chiptuning mean and how does the process work?
Chiptuning is a process in which a vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU) software is modified to improve performance, fuel efficiency, and the overall driving experience. The term “chiptuning” originates from the time when control units were basic, and the entire process involved physically removing the chip from the circuit board, modifying the engine control program, and then soldering the chip back into place. Today, chiptuning is much simpler — most of the work can be done through the OBD2 diagnostic port or directly through the ECU terminals. Chiptuning is the most straightforward and cost-effective way to increase a vehicle’s power and reduce fuel consumption.
Through chiptuning, a vehicle can achieve up to a 35% increase in power and up to a 20% reduction in fuel consumption. In the vehicle’s engine control unit software, fuel injection, ignition timing, charging pressure, and many other parameters are optimized during the chiptuning process.
Before tuning, we inspect the technical condition of your vehicle and conduct thorough diagnostics to ensure it is in proper working order. If any significant issues are found that may prevent quality chiptuning, we will unfortunately have to postpone the tuning until the vehicle is in good condition. If the technical issue can be quickly resolved, such as replacing a sensor or valve, we offer repair services provided the necessary spare part is available quickly. We can then proceed with the chiptuning process. After the chiptuning, we will recheck your vehicle using data logging, multiple test drives, and thorough diagnostics.
We measure your vehicle’s power before and after chiptuning and provide you with a document confirming the tuning along with a dyno graph.
We use only licensed top-quality equipment in our work, and all tuning software is written by us — we do not use pre-made solutions from others!
Is chiptuning safe for the vehicle?
Chiptuning is safe for your vehicle when performed by a tuner with extensive experience and in-depth technical knowledge, who uses only top-class licensed equipment.
Many service providers use cheap and low-quality tuning files purchased from the internet, and generally they won’t know, what is exactly being written to your vehicle's ECU.
We only use licensed top-class equipment in our work, and all tuning software is developed by us – we do not use ready-made solutions developed by others! We have in-depth knowledge of engine operation and construction, vehicle electronics, and electrical systems, and we never push a vehicle's engine beyond its capabilities – our number one priority in tuning is to ensure that the engine's lifespan is not reduced due to the tuning!
We offer a lifetime warranty on all tuning software developed by us.
Is it possible to chip tune all vehicles?
Chiptuning can be performed on almost all heavy-duty machinery, cars and vans that are controlled by an electronic engine control unit (ECU). The greatest benefit andd effect is seen in vehicles equipped with turbocharged or supercharged engines.
For naturally aspirated gasoline and diesel engine vehicles, the benefits are generally minimal, and chiptuning is not particularly common among them.
Chip boxes and other "tuning devices
To achieve an increase in power, various chipboxes and other similar tuning devices are quite common on vehicles. The device deceives the engine control unit by making the readings of various sensors, such as turbo and fuel pressure, appear lower than they actually are. The power increase is generally minimal.
When using such tuning boxes, the engine control unit does not know the actual engine performance parameters, and the consequences can include increased fuel consumption, black smoke from the vehicle's exhaust system, and in the worst case, even mechanical engine damage!
We do not use tuning boxes - all changes are made directly in the engine control unit software!
