DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter Removal

Solution to a problematic DPF - diesel particulate filter!

DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a filter located in the exhaust system of a diesel-powered vehicle that reduces soot emissions. Almost all heavy-duty machinery, passenger cars, and vans that meet at least EURO4 emission standards are equipped with a particle filter. The PSA group (Peugeot, Citroen, Opel) calls the soot filter FAP (Filtres à Particules).

In the event of a system failure or filter blockage, the emergency mode or limp mode is activated and the engine’s power is limited.

How does a DPF work?

The system consists of the following components:

The diesel particulate filter is a “passive” filter that traps unburned soot particles from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. The channels in the DPF filter allow exhaust gases to pass through, but the soot particles remain trapped there. The engine control unit measures and calculates the filter’s filling level using a pressure sensor. If the filter’s filling level exceeds the permitted level, the engine control unit starts a combustion cycle, or regeneration. During the combustion cycle, the temperature of the exhaust gases in the soot filter is raised to over 600°C. At such a high temperature, the soot particles accumulated in the filter burn off and only ash remains in the filter cartridge. The engine control unit monitors the temperature of the soot filter through temperature sensors throughout the combustion process.

Solution to the problematic particulate filter?

We offer a fast and affordable solution to DPF problems – complete removal of the system from the engine control unit’s software.

We offer solutions for both heavy-duty equipment (tractors, combines, excavators, harvesters and forwarders, trucks, buses and all other industrial machines) and passenger cars and vans.

Software removal of the particulate filter has several advantages:

– There is no need to repair an already failing system. The vehicle is forever free from DPF problems.

– After DPF removal, fuel consumption in most vehicles decreases.

– You will never again encounter a situation where the machine’s power is non-existent and the work stops due to a particulate filter failure.

What are the consequences of blockage and system failure?

The diesel particulate filter generally works on most cars for up to 200 thousand km without major problems. From that mileage onwards, the DPF generally clogs very often and the combustion cycle occurs more and more frequently, because the filter cartridge’s life is over. The prices of new diesel particulate filters start at 2000€ in dealerships. Therefore, replacing them is very expensive for the car owner.

There are also malfunctions in the operation of pressure and temperature sensors, and the car owner can certainly replace them too. The prices of sensors generally range between 50 and 200€.

If the system is not working properly, the engine control unit limits the vehicle’s power and the corresponding indicator light appears on the dashboard or the engine light comes on and fuel consumption increases.
